OLD — The total value of building permits issued by the City of Olds in the first six months of the year jumped more than $2 million from the same time last year, according to 2022 Building Statistics. of the municipality.

The total number of permits issued during this period also increased slightly, from 51 to 55.

From January to June of this year, 55 building permits were issued for projects with a total construction value of $6,667,100. In the first six months of 2021, 51 construction permits were issued for projects with a total value of $4,123,344.

Most of the difference in the total project value can be attributed to a permit, for a project valued at $197,500, filed in the institutional category.

Last year, three permits were issued in this category, but not until July. And when they aired, the three totaled $922,405.

From January to June of this year, eight permits were issued for single-family homes with a total value of $3 million.

Last year, from January to May, 10 permits were issued for single-detached homes with a total value of $2,892,000. No such permit was recorded during the month of June.

The statistics were presented at the July meeting of the Olds Municipal Planning Commission.

“It looks good,” commissioner Dan Peters said as commissioners mulled over the numbers.
