The City of Owen Sound Building Division has issued a permit for the construction of a new five-story, 79-unit apartment building at 530 28and West Street.

The construction value of this project, undertaken by local developer Barry’s Construction, is $17 million. All 79 units will be rental, with 12 accessible units including features such as barrier-free washrooms and door operators. The building will feature one-, two-, and three-bedroom suites at various price points. The preliminary completion schedule is summer 2023.

One of the Council’s strategic priorities is “A City That Grows,” a commitment to prepare for growth through appropriate public policy, the availability of land and housing, and the infrastructure necessary to support growth. Since 2020, the City has issued permits for 298 new residential units, including single-family homes, townhouses and rental apartments.
