KINGSPORT, Tenn. – Governor Bill Lee, Commissioner Jeff McCord, Department of Labor and Workforce Development and Governor Lee’s team will attend the grand opening of the Building Construction Technology Institute at the former location of the Sullivan North High School on Friday, February 28 starting at noon. at 13h

This event is made possible through the joint efforts of the City of Kingsport, East Tennessee State University (ETSU), Kingsport Chamber, Kingsport City Schools, Northeast State Community College, Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT), Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR ) and the State of Tennessee to provide more educational opportunities for high school students and adult learners who want to pursue construction and technical careers.

“Kingsport is committed to educating and employing a strong workforce that supports our region,” said Miles Burdine, President and CEO of Kingsport Chamber.

“Being able to have the Building Construction Technology Institute and its highly skilled programs here at Kingsport will establish a labor pool in a rapidly growing industry. It also signals to our industry partners across the region that we are committed to them and their success,” Burdine said. “Governor Lee’s presence at this event underscores the importance of this opportunity for both our region and the state in growing our economy and our workforce.

The grand opening will take place at 2533 N John B Dennis Highway in Kingsport. The public is invited to attend.
