Gofundme started for the Braeden Melms family
The family of a 19-year-old who died in an accident last week described him as “the brightest face you’ve ever seen”.
Braeden Melms, of Avoca, died in a head-on accident Thursday, September 2 on the M-25, about a mile north of Burtch Road in Burtchville Township.
A Gofundme has been started for his family. As of Wednesday morning, the fundraiser had raised over $ 12,600 of its goal of $ 15,000. Fundraising is available here.
Chad Melms, Braeden’s father, described his son as “the most positive and energetic child you will ever meet.”
“He was energetic, always on the move,” said Chad Melms. “He loved his dog, he loved everyone.”
Braeden had no enemies, just friends everywhere, his father said. He could always take a bad situation and turn it into a good one.
In a Facebook post, Braeden’s sister Autumn Hebel said he has a heart filled with love.
“He didn’t know how to hate anyone or anything,” she said in the post.
When he was younger, Braeden played hockey for the Blue Water Stars. In 2001, his team was vice-champion of the state.
“It was fast and slippery,” said Chad Melms.
The fundraiser said the donations will go directly to the family.
“If anyone knew Braeden you would know how big an impact he made in everyone’s life. He always had the biggest smile on his face and just wanted everyone to be happy,” says the Gofundme.
