HIGH EARTH, Ind. (WTWO / WAWV) – A company could begin renovations to the old K-Mart building on US Highway 41 in Terre Haute, Ind. after authorities applied for a building permit on Oct. 1 to renovate and use the space.

According to Vigo County Area Planning documents, Indianapolis-based T&W Construction has submitted an application for a total building renovation to 4661 S. US 41. In a description of the proposed work, the company said it would undergo an “interior renovation for create a “white box” for a future tenant. “

One potential tenant mentioned in the proposal is Hobby Lobby, with other areas of the 116,314 square feet to be occupied by other retailers or businesses.

The current owner of the building is Teachers Retirement System of the State of Kentucky. According to T&W’s request, the total value of the proposed work is $ 6 million.

The building has not been occupied since K-Mart left the space in mid-2016.
