The City of Winnipeg Charter requires that all building plans be checked to ensure they comply with the Manitoba Building Code and other applicable codes, standards and regulations before a building permit is issued. .

Business plan review verifies building permit applications submitted by contractors, developers, architects, professional engineers and residents.

In some cases, an application may be audited to confirm that it complies with previous development permit approvals. This may include an audit by water and waste, public works, fire paramedic and/or town planning and design. If the construction drawing file for the building permit application does not match the previous development permit and supporting application approvals:

  1. the building permit, if issued, will be considered null and void
  2. you will need to request revised approvals to align all requests

Once compliance has been demonstrated, your building permit application will be approved. A building permit will be issued authorizing the start of construction.
