920 N. Wells, the first of many towers planned for North Union, has received full planning permission. Planned for a narrow site along N. Wells St, the project site extends from W. Locust St to W. Walton St. Developed by JDL Development, the site previously housed surface parking.

920 N. WellsHartshorne Plunkard Architecture

With a design by Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture, 920 N. Wells will rise 21 stories, holding 238 residential units as well as 8,000 square feet of retail space. The mix of units will consist of 42 studios, 134 one-bed, 54 two-bed and 8 three-bed. Of the 238 apartments, 16 will be reserved to meet ARO requirements. These units will have a mix of 3 studios, 9 one-bed, 3 two-bed and 1 three-bedroom. Rising 250 feet in height, the project will provide residents with 105 car parking spaces and 207 bicycle parking spaces.


868 and 920 N. WellsHartshorne Plunkard Architecture

Once the ground has been cleared and the full building permit issued, general contractor Power Construction is expected to deliver 920 N. Wells in late 2023.


Northern UnionHartshorne Plunkard Architecture

As part of North Union, 920 N. Wells will be part of a planned total of 2.9 million square feet of new construction, comprising nearly 2,700 residential units as well as retail and outdoor space. The next tower slated to rise is 868 N. Wells, which has 25 floors with 428 units and 12,000 square feet of retail space. Although details of future towers have not been released, the entire development is expected to be delivered by 2026.
